It’s been a relatively quiet year for Cameron Murray. Like prime Jason Taumalolo, it feels like he’s entered the territory where he’s so good and has been for so long that most take him for granted.

The 28-year-old showed exactly what makes him so great inside 20 minutes against the Gold Coast Titans in Round 26.

Murray first displays his speed and strength to score South Sydney’s opener of the afternoon.

Remarkably, he managed to create the cue for his try himself on the previous tackle.

With a strong carry and quick play-the-ball, Murray beats the defenders off the ground and leaves Josh Patson not square at marker. That becomes crucial seconds later.

On the back of some second phase footy, Murray spots Keano Kini on the line. Kini, for all of his talents with the ball, will be a spot every team looks for when defending the line. Beside him, Patson has been called out by the referee for not retreating the ten metres after failing to contain Murray on the previous play.

He does so, but not with enough urgency which leaves him flatfooted on the line with a storming Murray heading towards him.

With the strong carry to create it, and acceleration to take the cue, Murray scored the fourth try of his 2026 NRL season.

The Rabbitohs played out a perfect tap set for Keaon Koloamatangi to score shortly after Murray crossed the line.

They hit their spots, cause chaos in the line, and put their best players in dangerous positions.
