For so long the attacking team has looked to work up the field to land on a post for their kicker to line up a field goal attempt from in front - behind a blocker or two, ideally. It’s given the kicker their best look and made things difficult for the markers and defensive line to apply pressure.

Now, however, those chasers have been given a free passage to the kicker with the NRL standing firm on how they police blockers. That split second gained from the kick pressure needing to navigate blockers is gone and has left coaches looking for the next advantage.
